    TERRE HAUTE - Lori Phillips and Christina Warren, both of Warsaw, performed with the Sycamore Marching Bank of Indiana State University at the third annual Brickyard 400 stock-car race.

Phillips is a freshman clarinet player and Warren is a freshman Sparkette.

August 9 1981

    A three-year-old Saanen goat, "Millie," and her two newborns captured the hearts of young and old alike only hour after the 4-H Goat Show had come to a conclusion.

The owner, Marilyn King, 16, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Darrell King, of Mentone, commented it's the fourth year she has shown goats at the local fairgrounds, but the first time that one has given birth.

August 9 1956

    Three North Webster majorettes, who in a few short weeks will be working out for their school, took a week's training in marching and twirling at Smith Walbridge Twirling Camp, near Syracuse.

They are Sue Corbin, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Corbin; Linda Larsen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hasken Larsen; and Nancy Dickinson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Dickinson. Linda is drum major at the North Webster School.

August 9 1931

    Considerable excitement was caused at the Robinson Market when a large poisonous South American tarantula was discovered in a bunch of bananas by Dale Buell, a clerk.

Both the clerk and Herbert Robinson captured the large spider by sacking the bananas in an onion mesh bag when the tarantula was coaxed into a glass jar and is now being exhibited to friends.
