    Five youth from Warsaw Community High School are traveling with the Bluecoats Drum and Bugle Corps this summer. The Bluecoats are based in Canton, Ohio, and are ranked eighth in the world. Members are Celeste Cooning, guard, daughter of Ed and Julie Cooning; Jodi Fulkerson, cymbals, daughter of Dave and Eugenia Fulkerson; Brian Lindquist, tenor drums, son of Richard and Barbara Lindquist; Jeremy Miller, snare drum, son of Don and Vicky Miller; and Lane Armey, tenor drums, son of Mike and Dinah Armey.

August 7 1979

    Renee Morris, 13, of Warsaw, smiled broadly following the announcement that her 112-pound Suffolk lamb was the grand champion of the 4-H sheep show at the county fair. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Morris.


50 Years Ago

August 7 1954

    Garland Coolman, of South Whitley, received a silver medal as an achievement award for winning the most prizes at the Indiana Gladiolus Society flower show held Sunday at Purdue University, West Lafayette.

Coolman was presented awards for having the grand champion basket and grand champion flower. He also received three special awards for the best sized flower and two other first prizes.

    A few of the bargains this week at Jet White Stores are two cans of Old Dutch Cleanser, 15 cents; Ginger snaps, 10 cents per pound; five rolls of Waldorf toilet paper, 25 cents; and four bars of Kirk's Hardwater toilet soap, 25 cents.
