    Kevin Ousley and Janet Lynch were crowned the Kosciusko County 4-H royal couple during the awards for fashion revue, clothing construction, tenure awards and other special achievements.

Ousley, 19, is the son of Becky and Roy Ousley, Pierceton, and Lynch, 19, is the daughter of Richard and Betty Lynch of Claypool.

    Manchester College President A. Blair Helman recently announced that Brenda F. Sands, Rt. 2, Claypool, will be joining the faculty Sept.1 as an instructor in the home economics department.

A native of Warsaw, she received the B.S. degree from Manchester in 1970 and the Master of Arts Degree in 1973 from Ball State University.

August 7 1950

    Richard Van Cleave, 13-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. J.M. Van Cleave, of East Main Street, won the Koastin' Krates derby held by defeating Jay Hawk, 12, in the final elimination race. The derby was held on the North Indiana Street hill before hundreds of interested spectators who lined the course from the starting ramp at Main Street to the finish line north of Fort Wayne Street.

Young Van Cleave will receive a deluxe bicycle, donated by the Times-Union and WRSW.

    Janitor Floyd Treesh is to be congratulated upon the condition and care of the court house lawn this summer. The neat and beautiful appearance of the lawn speaks for itself.
