    Tippecanoe Lake Country Club Ladies Bridge Group met for their luncheon Wednesday. The hostesses for seven tables of bridge were Betty Beamon and Doris Couch.

Winners for this week were Dottie Murphy, Mim Ballou, Carolyn Merryman, Irma Sink, Virginia Hawks, Marie Johnson and Betty Monroe.

August 5 1979

    Years of hard work and experience paid off for Cindy Horn, 15, of Warsaw, in the 4-H beef show. She received the grand champion steer trophy at the county fair after exhibiting her 1,225-pound Cross Semmental Angus steer. Cindy showed the reserve grand champion steer in 1978, and is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leon Horn.


50 Years Ago

August 5 1954

    Carol Tiel, of Akron, was awarded the grand diamond medal at a contest conducted at the auditorium, Winona Lake, by the Women's Christian Temperance Union organization.

Other contestants were Toby Meyers, Linda Stiers and Elaine Crouch, Anderson; Beverly Tiel, Akron; and Sherri Garbin, Fort Wayne.

    Mildred Norris, Kathryn Laurien, Etta Hess, Ruby Carroll and Charlotte Rhoades, employees of the Interstate Public Service Co., enjoyed a ham and egg fry along the banks of the Tippecanoe River.
