    The Kosciusko County 4-H Fair Cutie King and Queen for 1988 are Blake DiRico and Carlye Gilliam. Blake, 4, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank DiRico, Warsaw, and 4-year-old Carlye's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Mike Gilliam, Warsaw.

    In 1841, Warsaw was about 5 years old and had about 150 people living on what is now the town plat. In those days money went by the shilling, about 12-1/2 cents.

Ike Kirkendall was the first sheriff, but at this time a man named Blain from Leesburg was sheriff of Warsaw, and Asa Nye was his deputy.

August 4 1948

    Private (first-class) John C. Elliott, 18, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ivan W. Elliott, 840 E. Market St., Warsaw, graduated last week from the Air Force communications school at Scott Air Force Base, Belleville, Ill.

Graduated as an Air Force radio operator, Pfc. Elliott is now qualified to send and receive messages by code and voice, thereby taking his position in the world-wide Air Force communications system.

    John L. Freeman, more familiarly known as "Dad," crossing watchman at Detroit Street for the Pennsylvania Railroad in this city for the past five years, was today placed on the company's roll of honor with a pension, after 38 years of service. He has been a resident of Warsaw for more than 40 years.
