The Warsaw Community High School marching band is gearing up for the 1994 Bands of America Midwest Regional Championship Sept. 24.
Warsaw is one of 32 high schools from five states competing for top honors in the Midwest. Its performance is called "A Walk in Jurassic Park" and features about 100 members of the band and color guard.

Doug Baker, 16, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Williamson, of Pierceton, showed the Champion Columbia Ewe after competing recently in the 4-H Sheep Show at the 1979 State Fair in Indianapolis. He also won the Champion Columbian Wether title in the sheep contest last Thursday.

Despite a wet and slippery track, the stock car races brought but a big crowd to the Warsaw Speedway Saturday night, as one of the closing night features of the county fair, and thrills and spills were numerous.
The rain delayed the start of the races about an hour, but the program was completed in good time, with Gale Smith, of Warsaw, capturing the 25-lap feature race ahead of Art Johnson, also of Warsaw, and Jack Riley, of Huntington, who were second and third, respectively.

School hack drivers of Tippecanoe Township must keep their hair cut and shave twice a week. In addition, they must wear clean overalls, according to orders issued by Milo Strombeck, the township trustee.
Strombeck said, "I believe hack drivers and teachers should be an example to the children." Two years ago Strombeck required that women teachers should not wear skirts shorter than six inches below the knee.
