    Warsaw resident Jerry Nelson won the Indiana PGA-Senior Open Golf Championship Friday at Harbour Trees Golf Club, Noblesville.

Nelson, who gained eligibility to play in the event after turning 50 earlier this year, scored a one-stroke win over Evansville's professional, Don Bisesi. Nelson's 36-hole total was 145.

    Their chrome-plated shovels slipping easily into the rain-soaked soil, Tippecanoe Valley School Corp. board members Phillip Lash, Dr. Wymond Wilson, Dr. John McKee, Maurice Coplen and Richard Goshert officially broke ground Monday night for the new high school. Board president Coplen said he hopes the new school will be ready for students by September 1974.

    Kaufman's Corner Super Service Station, downtown Warsaw, is having a big "get acquainted" offer all day Saturday from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. You'll get five gallons of gas for $1. Everything over five gallons will be at the regular price of 27-1/2 cents per gallon.

    Alarmed when they saw a man pacing up and down the street and on to the porch of Dr. J.M. Canfield's home at 11:30 o'clock, neighbors called the police. When patrolmen arrived, Dr. Canfield was taking the man downtown in his automobile. "The man wants a tooth pulled," the dentist explained. "He got nervous while I was putting on my shirt."
