    Mabel Kyle, a resident of Grace Health Care, celebrated her 106th birthday on Aug. 17. She was born Aug. 17, 1884, in Pierceton, and has lived in Kosciusko County for a total of 88 years. In the past, Kyle was a seamstress. She has a granddaughter, Carol Stump, who lives in rural Warsaw.

    Daniel C. Levernier, Milford, has been honored by Midwestern United Life Insurance Co., of Fort Wayne, during the firm's 27th anniversary convention in Pinehurst, N.C.

Levernier has been with Midwestern United since Aug. 1951 and is recognized as one of the company's most consistent personal producers.

August 29 1950

    A Pennsylvania freight train was delayed in Warsaw for 30 minutes because of a "hot-box." Passengers waiting for the afternoon train to Chicago were given a thrill as the freight train thundered by the depot in Warsaw with a flaming wheel and was brought to a stop. C.B. Young, conductor, said he discovered the trouble just as the train rounded the curve at Winona Lake.
