Leland Cox, son of Robert Cox, Leesburg, has been promoted in the U.S. Air Force to the rank of colonel.
Cindy Albertson, 19-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Steve Albertson, Warsaw, won the Grand Champion Gelding title at the Indiana State Fair with her faithful horse, Ole Barnglow, recently.
Mrs. A.L. Price, Times-Union correspondent for the Center community, submitted a clipping to the Times-Union, from a Wisconsin paper which was sent to her by a friend from there. Wisconsin residents are suffering from the heat as are Hoosiers, and to prove it, Amelia Anderson, of Wisconsin, fried an egg on her porch in the sun. She put the egg, in a skillet, on the porch at about 1 p.m. and removed it at 5 p.m. "The egg," said Mrs. Anderson, "didn't look too appetizing, but it was sufficiently cooked."
Twelve tables of bridge were enjoyed at the bridge party held at the Warsaw Country Club. Ladies prizes at bridge were awarded to Edith Anglin, who received first prize, and Mrs. Neal Mikesell, who was awarded second. Dr. W.B. Siders won the men's first prize, and C.F. Richardson, second. Following bridge, a ping-pong tournament was held with Glee Miner being the winner.
