DALLAS, Texas - Bloomington's Star of Indiana has marched to a first-place finish in the Drum Corps International World Championships.
George Mowrey, 1804 E. Center St., Warsaw, celebrated another birthday this week, and while he isn't telling anyone exactly which one it was, he admits he is over 25. Mowrey operated his own automobile service-repair business in Warsaw for 54 years and has spent the last four years at Bruce Petro Olds-Cadillac after deciding retirement wasn't for him. Although at the "young" age of 80, or perhaps beyond, George is still at work each day at 7 a.m. ready and willing to do any task that is asked of him.
Vere Stiver, 30, Bourbon, son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Stiver, Etna Green, is on maneuvers in the Caribbean aboard the destroyer USS N.K. Perry. Vere is a navy veteran who served six years through World War II, including 38 months of combat duty in the Pacific theater on a destroyer escort.
Six tables of ladies enjoyed playing bridge at the home of Mrs. Ray Miner. The party was given in honor of Mrs. Miner's sister, Ailene Loveland, Washington, D.C. A beautiful first prize was awarded to Mrs. Theodore Frazer and a second to Lillian Walton.
