    Scott Wiley was recently chosen by president David Delp and the Baker Boys' Club Board of Directors as the new executive director of the club. Wiley, the son of Don and Maxine Wiley, is just the third executive director in the 66-year history of the club. He replaces Bob "Litch" Lichtenwalter, who has overseen the club for the past 29 years. Pete Thorn, the founder of the club, directed the BBC for 37 years.

    It was the start of what many feel will be something big Tuesday when the Warsaw Community High School cross country team beat Whitko. Team members include Dale Zimmerman, Dave Haney, Mike LaFollette, Brian Zimmerman, Jeff Green, Steve Moody, Mark Hall, Steve Oyler, Mark Stamper, Tom Ellis, Steve Pfefferkorn, Jeff Derf, Frank Thomas, Randy Steger, Jim Coon, Darrell Cox and Kurt Burner.

August 28 1952

    Garland Coolman, South Whitley, had ten first place winners and produced the champion basket at the 22nd annual show of the Indiana Gladiolus Society held in the Honeywell Memorial at Wabash. An estimated 2,000 persons attended the show. Coolman also was elected a director for the coming year.

August 28 1927

    Mr. and Mrs. Thomas J. Prickett, Nappanee, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. Mr. Prickett was born in a farm south of Benton, son of Mr. and Mrs. Nimrod Prickett, pioneer residents.
