    A Kosciusko County farm was honored by the Historic Landmarks Foundation of Indiana.

Cloice Metzger, of Metzger Cattle Co., received the John Arnold Rural Preservation Award, which recognizes farmers who balance modern farming with the preservation of their property's historic resources.

August 28 1981

    A 1981 Philip Morris Inc. College Scholarship has been awarded to Lynn M. Jurss, Warsaw. The daughter of Kenneth and Mary Jurss, she recently graduated from Warsaw Community High School and plans to become a veterinarian.


50 Years Ago

August 28 1956

    Ella Vanator, of Warsaw, who will be 95 in October, will take her first plane ride when she accompanies her son and daughter-in-law, the Rev. and Mrs. Fred Vanator, to their home in Sarasota, Fla.

Vanator, who looks much younger than 95, is a remarkable woman. No living in the past for her. She is interested in the events of today, and looks forward with enthusiasm to the future.

75 Years Ago

August 28 1931

    The girls employed in the office of the Northern Indiana Public Service Co. will enjoy an outing at Myrtle Glen Park, Silver Lake. Those who expect to attend are Ruby Carroll, Charlotte Rhoades, Mildred Norris, Mildred Chapman and Etta Hess.
