    The 1990 Bourbon Summerfest parade marshal is lifetime resident Martha Gochenour.

Born to parents of strong German background, she grew up "speaking the Dutch." She will take her place as the grand marshal of the Bourbon Summerfest parade Saturday.

August 28 1975

    On Aug. 22, 31 men and boys left for a 10-day camping and fishing trip on the Montreal River in Ontario, Canada.

Sponsored by the Warsaw Optimist Club, the trip is an adventure in camping and canoeing. Organized by Tom Maze, Ace Hardware dealer and Optimist member, the journey started years ago as a vacation for North Grant Street youth and has expanded to include boys who might never have had an opportunity to camp or fish in the wilderness.

    City officer Clarence Teghtmeyer will leave Aug. 21 for the Indiana University Medical School for a week's training on the use of drunkometer equipment. The board of works recently purchased a drunkometer for use by the city police department.

August 28 1925

    A new Studebaker motor bus has been purchased by Ross Franklin, owner of the Waco Pavilion, Wawasee Lake, to be used during the winter for the orchestra on their winter tour. Next summer the bus will make trips from Goshen and Wawasee.
