    MENTONE - A complete police department is again intact at Mentone with Friday's swearing in of Jim Eads as deputy marshal.

Eads, 26, was one of 11 applicants for the position. He joins the Mentone Police Department after about 18 months combined service as a reserve office for Mentone, then the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department.

August 27 1979

    Marie Fisher won Class A low gross honors Tuesday in the women's nine hole club play at Tippecanoe Lake Country Club.

Other Class A winners were Karen Kreiger, low net, and Barb Stalmacker, low putts. Class B winners were Jan Morsches, low gross; Nell Taylor, low net, and Marybelle Sharp, low putts.

August 27 1954

    John Gawthrop, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Gawthrop, of Warsaw, received a gift certificate for a new bicycle from Victor Anglin, president of the Kosciusko County Fair Association, at the close of the kiddies' day activities.

The bicycle was donated by the fair association.

75 Years Ago

August 27 1929

    Nine Warsaw High School vocational agriculture boys and teacher J.L. Barton will attend the state fair and boys' club camp, leaving Friday. Three of the boys will represent the county as a livestock judging team. The boys on the livestock team are Arthur Smith, Cary Groninger and Leo Valentine. Other boys attending the camp and fair are George Peterson, Walter Vaughn, Russell Henderson, Donald Secrist, David Poor and Glenn Emerick.
