    MUNCIE - David Keener, a graduate of Wawasee High School, placed ninth in the 1-meter board at the Philips 66 National Diving Championships in Woodland, Texas, on Aug. 14.

Besides finishing ninth, Kenner's score of 500.64 also ranked him ninth nationally in the event.

    Rhonda Montel, the 11-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Montel, Warsaw, and a sixth-grader at Pierceton Middle School, captured reserve champion Polled Hereford steer honors after showing her 1,130-pound steer, "Peanuts," at the Indiana State Fair, Indianapolis. "Peanuts" also won reserve champion Polled Hereford steer at the Kosciusko County Fair.

    Lucy Bachman, Syracuse, has been initiated into the Indiana University chapter of Pi Lambda Theta, national honorary society for women in education. The daughter of Charles C. Bachman, Lucy has been doing graduate study at I.U. this summer and will teach this fall at the University of Wisconsin.

    Alvin Robinson, 416 S. Buffalo St., was again honored by being elected president of the 118th Regiment of Indiana Volunteers in annual reunion at Peru. Mrs. Almeda Whitson, Peru, was chosen as secretary.
