Teachers, students and patrons were hard at work Saturday chinking the log cabin that has been reconstructed at Harrison Elementary School. The cabin was built around 1850 in Whitley County and was moved to Winona Lake in 1940. It was donated to Warsaw Community Schools in 1992, when it was dismantled by Fred Clark of North Webster and moved to Harrison. The cabin will be used by all students in Warsaw schools.
Sixteen-year-old Jody Brown, of Warsaw, posed with Harlan Sanders, the national figure behind the chain of restaurants, Kentucky Fried Chicken, who is known as "The Colonel," while attending the National Junior Achievers Conference at Indiana University, Bloomington, this month. Col. Sanders attended the week-long session. A junior at Warsaw Community High School this year, Brown was the only youth from Warsaw to attend the conference.
Young winners in the Etna Green Centennial costume and pet parade were Byron Ewing, Susan Gumpher and Keith Stouder.
Music pupils of Iva Lozier presented the following recital at Stony Point Church: Mildred Harmon, Leon Nelson, Gwendolyn McCormack, Marjory Byrer, Wilma Gay, Louise Klingerman, Martha Templin, Velva Nelson, Eleanor Huffer, Ada Jones, Fay Danner, Wilma Heckerman and Marie Klingerman.
