    Tamra Ummel, Leesburg, has been appointed assistant director of special education in Warsaw Community Schools.

Ummel replaces Debbie Weaver, who became principal at Claypool Elementary School.

    Army Sgt. Edgar E. Wright, son of Bill B. Wright, Warsaw, recently graduated from the Eighth U.S. Army's Wightman Non-commissioned Officer Academy in Korea.

He received instruction in drill and ceremonies, physical training, leadership, map reading and weapons familiarization.

    Warsaw's new rotating airport beacon will be turned on Tuesday night at 9:30 with appropriate ceremonies at the Warsaw Municipal Airport. Kosciusko County residents will be able to observe the first flash of the powerful beacon.

The switch will be thrown by Col. Clarence Cornish, director of the Indiana Aeronautics Department, at a signal broadcast over WRSW.

    Wilbur J. Ross and Charles F. Ross of this city will attend the convention of band instrument dealers the week beginning Sept. 2. The climax of the convention will come at 8 o'clock Sept. 4 when a grand concert by celebrated artists will be staged in the Elkhart High School auditorium. Each artist will play the instrument which has brought him fame and together will form the most famous musical group ever brought together.
