Winners of the 4-H dog obedience contest at the Indiana State Fair were: Brooke Moore and Tinkerbell, first in junior showmanship and fourth in obedience 3A; Chasity Miller and Leo, fourth in obedience 2A; and Tracy Harris and Spike, ninth in obedience 1A.
Chuck Cotton, the 14-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Ed (Mary Lou) Cotton, Warsaw, showed the Grand Champion Recorded Grade Doe in the 4-H Dairy Goat show held at the 1980 Indiana State Fair. Both Chuck and his brother, Tom, won several top awards in the 4-H Goat Show at the Kosciusko County Fair this summer. The Cotton family own a goat herd on their farm near Dutchtown.
Norman Miller, of Milford, and Perry Hathaway, of Burket, were first- and second- place winners, respectively, in the senior division of the county tractor driving contest held at the county fairgrounds.
Twenty members of the King Heralds of the Methodist Church met at the city park Thursday evening. They played a number of games and contests. Arnold Ferguson won the potato race; Mary Arnold won in the relay race and in the sack race; Billy Evans won in the ball game; Betty Dean Phillips won in the pebble race; and James Johnson won in the Chinese race.
