Jennifer Johnson, delegate from Beta Zeta chapter, Warsaw, of Delta Theta Tau Sorority Inc., attended the 86th national convention in July in St. Louis, Mo. The theme of the convention was "Meet Me in St. Louie, Louie." Total attendance was 497 sorority members. The organization has 236 active and alumni chapters across the United States.
Chuck Cotton, the 13-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Cotton, Warsaw, showed the Reserve Champion Saanen Doe in the 4-H Dairy Goat Show at the 1979 Indiana State Fair. He also was named the Grand Champion Recorded Grace Division winner and clinched the Junior Champion Recorded Grace (Crossbred Saanen) title in the first 4-H goat show held at the state fair Saturday.
Alan C. Kelly, of Warsaw, was among several of the Purdue University ROTC cadets attending summer camp at Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Md., to receive ordnance corps commissions as second lieutentants in the U.S. Army reserve. The newly commissioned officers have completed four years of ROTC training at Purdue, climaxed by six weeks summer camp training prior to receipt of their commission.
The rattles of a 13-year-old rattlesnake were exhibited at the Daily Times office by P.D. McFarren, who resides near Warsaw. McFarren was driving along Country Club road about 2 p.m. yesterday afternoon, when he saw the snake in the middle of the road. Climbing from his car, he seized a fence post, with which he crushed the snake. Ten rattles and a button proved its age to be past 10 years. It was killed near the Lake Winona outlet dam.
