    Navy Seaman Joseph Stocking, son of Robert and Diane Stocking of Rochester, recently graduated from the Basic Hospital Corps School with honors at Naval Hospital Corps School, Great Lakes, Ill.

During the 14-week course, Stocking learned medical procedures used to provide first aid and assist Navy doctors and nurses.

    Gordy Clemens had a decision to make: continue his basketball-playing career or try his hand at coaching.

He chose both. Not wanting to hang up the sneakers yet but, at the same time, desiring experience as a coach, Clemens has elected to be a player/coach for a semi-professional basketball team in Australia.

August 25 1956

    Gary Miller, 11, son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Miller, East Center Street, won the Class J. divisional championship in the outboard motor boat races at Lake Winneconne, Wis.

Gary, using the five-horse motor allowed in Class J. competition, was the only Indiana boy to advance to the national championships held in two weeks.

    The North Winona quartet will represent Kosciusko County at the state fair in Indianapolis this year. Austin Helser, first tenor; William Orr, second tenor; Cecil Lozier, first bass, and Harry Lozier, second bass, comprise the quartet.
