A quartet of local riders captured first place finishes to highlight BMX racing action Sunday at the Hire Park Track in Warsaw.
Robin Dust, the youngest president ever to serve the American Legion Auxiliary, Wawasee Post 223, was installed this week. Officers for the coming year are, Lucy Kroh, recording secretary; Donna Snyder, historian; Muriel Noe, second vice president; Rowena Brewer, past president; Susan Myrick, corresponding secretary; Alice Kline, parliamentarian; Mary Kistler, third vice president; Agnes Stiffler, sergeant at arms; Olive Bushong, chaplain; Connie Solina, treasurer; Robin Dust, president; Margaret Nichols, first vice president; and Betty Dust, installing officer.
Frank Manwaring, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Manwaring, Mentone, is spending two weeks at Minocqua, Wis., along with 18 leaders from the Boy Scout camp northeast of North Webster where he served as life guard and taught life saving and swimming. The canoe trips down the rivers in Wisconsin is a reward for faithful service at the scout camp during the past camping season.
Mrs. Maude Irvine delightfully entertained a few guests at a threatre party at the Centennial Wednesday evening. Refreshments were enjoyed at the Washington Candy shop following the program. The guests were Mary Curtis, of Iona, Mich., Retta Hess, Elizabeth Hess and Mrs. Effa Hover.
