    WEST LAFAYETTE - For their dedication to 4-H and its ideals, 22 4-H'ers were chosen as Indiana delegates to the 1996 National 4-H Congress.

Janice Bokhart, 15, daughter of Donald and Elaine Bokhart, Syracuse, will represent Kosciusko County.

August 23 1981

    Mary Alice Parke, 17-year-old daughter of Dr. and Mrs. William Parke, Country Club Drive, has flown to Sweden where she will reside with a family and study for a year. She's a good scholar, talented and attractive and would be a junior this fall, here.


50 Years Ago

August 23 1956

    A little incident at the 4-H fair should dispel any doubt concerning the intelligence of the pig. One of the animals up for sale, No. 140, was out of turn. The auctioneer started to sell the "pushie" one. Out of a nearby pen crashed another porker into the ring. You guessed it, it was No. 139. The first pig was sold in spite of the other's efforts. Considering where both were headed, we doubt if either won a moral victory.


75 Years Ago

August 23 1931

    Having been separated since infancy, two sisters, Mrs. S.S. Hammond, of Cleveland, Ohio, and Mrs. James Powers, residing east of Warsaw, met last Saturday for the first time in nearly 50 years. Neither sister knew the exact whereabouts of the other until a few months ago.
