    Delivery driver Lloyd Hill has retired from United Parcel Service after 25 years of service.

Hill began his career in Bourbon as a washer/porter in 1967. That same year he was promoted to delivery driver. He served customers in the Winona Lake area for the past 12 years.

    Navy Lieutenant David W. Anderson, son of Mrs. Eugene L. Brown, Pierceton, has been selected as a candidate for the NASA Space Shuttle Program.

Lt. Anderson was chosen as one of the 45 Navy candidates for the program. He will be screened along with candidates form the other services and civilian applicants for the final selection of 15 pilots and 15 mission specialist astronauts in January, 1978.

August 23 1952

    Burdell Blackburn, 16, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lester Blackburn, Mentone, won the coveted 4-H club fat barrow grand championship at the country fair with his Hampshire. Burdell also showed the champion Hampshire barrow and the champion reserve champion Hampshire gilt.
