Kevin McGuire, 10, caught an 8-pound, 2-ounce blue channel catfish this summer on Pike Lake. He landed the 26-inch fish with a chub minnow. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene McGuire of Warsaw.
Vince Buliosi, of North Webster, won the annual St. Joseph Valley tennis tournament at South Bend.
Dr. W.B. Siders, who recently visited 15 county seats, praised the Kosciusko County courthouse lawn as being the best lawn of any he has seen. The continual watering of the lawn by custodian Floyd Treesh has given the county a beautiful lawn. It is hoped that the lawn will not be marred by the fair crowds next month.
