    Jan Knispel, Paula Klaver and Vickie Hobbs got an up-close experience with one of the nation's most classic, beloved clowns ever to put on a smiling face.

Clowner Emmett Kelly Jr. was in Frankenmuth, Mich., recently when he met the Warsaw trio. Since he doesn't talk publicly, they used sign language.

    Navy Aircrew Survival Equipmentman Third Class Michael Eiser Jr., son of Mike and Joan Eiser, Mentone, recently participated in the U.S. Sixth Fleet operation "National Week XXV."

He is assigned to Attack Squadron 83, based at Cecil Field Naval Air Station, Jacksonville, Fla.

    Eight Girl Scouts passed the Red Cross intermediate swimming skill tests during the 11th annual swimming course, sponsored by the Warsaw-Winona Lake Council of Girl Scouts, it was announced today by Mrs. W.A. Gasaway, the instructor.

They are Linda Croop, Katie Eggers, Lucy Heaton, Roberta Lamey, Jean Lemler, Suzanne Mollenhour, Karen Scheeter and Linda Depoy.

    Carl Hathaway, native Warsaw boy and son of Mrs. S.D. Hathaway, of West Center Street, is now manager of the greatest circus in the world, the Barnum & Bailey and Ringling Brothers' combined circus. This great institution is greater than any other five of the largest circuses now in existence combined. It represents an investment of $12 million and requires three train loads, comprising a total of 102 freight cars to transport the circus.
