    Rob Kesler won the 1996 Warsaw Little League Garber Award at the annual picnic and awards day. The Garber Award is presented to a 15-year-old player who has played for the Little League for seven years, and is based on talent, enthusiasm, good sportsmanship and good attitude.

August 21 1981

    Dan Mackaben, son of Louis and Evelyn Mackaben, Warsaw, compiled a perfect 4.0 grade average during his freshman year at Devry Institute of Technology in Chicago, earning him a spot on the school's President's List each trimester. He will return there this fall for his sophomore year.


50 Years Ago

August 21 1956

    The climax of the Kosciusko County's 40th Fair came when Margie Long, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Long, Warsaw, was crowned as the 1956 fair queen. She was one of three girls competing as "Miss Warsaw."

Another "Miss Warsaw" entry, Brenda See, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ed See, North Detroit Street, was second, and Janice Study, "Miss Beaver Dam," was third among the 16 entries. Janice is the daughter of Mrs. Hazel Study, Beaver Dam.

75 Years Ago

August 21 1931

    Due to the rush of business at the Cruikshank Bros. Co. on North Park Avenue, an average of 702 wagons a day are delivering cucumbers to this plant, it was stated at the council meeting. Residents of the street have offered to pay for the putting on of calcium chloride on this street to lay the dust caused by the heavy traffic, and the council voted to see that the street is treated.
