RICHMOND - Jerry Nelson of Burket, a farmer who put down his hoe and picked up his clubs for the Indiana Open Championship, wowed the crowds by firing a tourney-low 67 to give him a tie for the lead Thursday at the Forest Hills Country Club.

Highlighting his day, which ironically enough began with a double-bogey on the first hole, was his fourth career hole-in-one coming on the ninth hole following five consecutive pars. He used a No. 7 iron on the par three 135-yard hole.

The night blooming cactic which is the property of Mrs. C.A. Rovenstine of Atwood and which bloomed last Saturday night was sure a thing of beauty. Rovenstine noticed about 6 p.m. that eight of the blooms would open that night and she telephoned to quite a number of her friends and to the people who were spending the summer at Crystal Lake and Beachwood and people began coming about 8 p.m. and many came at 2 in the morning to see the beautiful blossoms. Among the crowd was a florist from Chicago who remarked it was the first time he had ever seen one of the night blooming cacti in bloom.
