    Korean War veteran Lawrence E. Adams recently received his Recognition Medallion for serving in the Korean War from 1951-53. Known as Sarge, he received the medal in Indianapolis in June. He lives in Warsaw with his wife, Delores.

    Since 1970 the women from Ship 194, Berwyn, Ill., have carried home the travelling Kamahamaha Trophy for outstanding unit performances at the annual Makahiki, sponsored by Warsaw Lions Club.

This year the women were nudged out by Warsaw Explorer Post 67, consisting of Doug Montel, Bill Burr, Alan Barnes, Mike Clark, James Baker, Steve Clark and Rick Montel, which won the top trophy on home turf in Winona Lake Park over the weekend.

August 20 1952

    Eleven-year-old Charles Plummer, Pierceton, was en route home today after making a very creditable showing Sunday before nearly 60,000 spectators at the All-American Soap Box Derby in Akron, Ohio.

Young Plummer, champion of the recent Warsaw Soap Box Derby, won his first heat race before being eliminated in the second heat by Roy Struck of Bedford.

    Two Kosciusko County educators returned home from Columbia University at New York where they have completed their work and received their master's degree in educational administration.

The two educators are Ray Kuhn, principal of the Pierceton High School, and Charles H. Kern, principal of the Etna Green High School.
