    Mitch Overton, Josh Abrams and Scott Howard won the 9-13 age division of the Winona Lake Days 3-on-3 basketball tournament recently.

August 19 1980

    Lana Garber, Northfield High School guidance counselor and eldest offspring of Curtis (Times-Union senior editor) and Peg Garber (Lake City Bank teller), recently won the championship flight of the women's club golf tourney at Wabash Country Club. This is her first year as a member. "Surely, she doesn't get her golf ability from me," said Pappy Gabby, who's on vacation this week, practicing for the annual Rozella Ford Pro-Member Tourney.

August 19 1955

    Members of the Warsaw American Legion Auxiliary chorus captured two prizes when they sang before thousands of women at the Indiana ALA State Convention in the French Lick Hotel.

A quartet composed of Mrs. Joe Watkins, Mrs. John Kinsey, Edna Marie Hankins and Mrs. Kenneth Busselberg took first place with a prize of $20. The foursome also sang with the 12-voice chorus which won second prize of $50, losing out to Evansville for top honors by a two-point margin.

August 19 1930

    Al Gerard captured the 1930 Warsaw Country Club golf title in handicap tournament when he defeated Norman Stephenson, 5 up with 4 to play. Gerard played at 92 strokes while Stephenson's handicap was 85.
