Elizabeth Sroufe and Dale Wright were among the winners of prizes in a raffle sponsored by the Pierceton Days festival. Sroufe won a glider rocker and Wright won a "Jennifer" doll from Linda Lou's Gift & Craft Shop, owned by Linda Branning.
The story goes that years ago, Dal Anglin, from around the Atwood-Etna Green area, was in Warsaw and his car stopped at the busy intersection of Center and Lake streets. It just wouldn't turn over. And the lady behind him in her car wouldn't stop honking. Finally, in desperation, Dal jumped out, walked back and said, "Lady, if you'll start my car, I'll sit there and honk your horn."
For completing the last line of a jingle, Forrest Eherenman, Warsaw, has won a $50 check from the Ohio Oil Co. The check was handed to Eherenman by George Snyder, local distributor of Marathon products.
Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Lindsey, of this city, were awarded first prize at the state gladiola show held last week at Marion for having the most beautiful and most artistically arranged display of gladiola on exhibit. They were also awarded two other first prizes and two silver cups. The Lindseys exhibited 60 baskets, or 1,200 spikes of choice gladiola on a stage of 1,350 square feet.
