Juanita Macias, Warsaw, was the first runner-up in the western wear competition and in the top 10 court at the national finals of the America's Sweetheart Beauty Pageant and Baby Contest. In the Miss Indiana TEEN Pageant, Rachel Platt, 17, Warsaw, was chosen as first runner-up. The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hank Platt, she was also first runner-up in the interview competition and was awarded a trophy for first place in the speech category.

    Robert Womack, of 601 W. Prairie St., Warsaw, son of Rowena and Don Womack, is the recipient of the Lambda Chi Omega Junior Achievement Scholarship. Robert graduated from Warsaw Community High School last year and will attend Indiana University General and Technical Study Institute in Fort Wayne. Presenting the scholarship was Mrs. David Zimmerman and Mrs. James Turner, scholarship committee.

August 17 1950

    Jay Rigdon, Syracuse, and Ed Finkenbiner, Warsaw, tied for first place in the 18-hole medal play handicap event at the South Shore Country Club golf course on Lake Wawasee. Rigdon shot a 77, which, with a nine-stroke handicap, gave him a 68. Finkenbiner shot an actual score of 91, and had 23 strokes as a handicap for a 68 total.

    The Dale Boxell eccentric Ford has been especially painted in the Elks lodge colors, white and purple, with snappy inscriptions, and may be seen at the city hall corner. It will be with the Warsaw marching delegation in the parade at the state convention at Valparaiso. One hundred Warsaw Elks will attend.
