    Ten-year-old Alyson Mills, Syracuse, recently won first place at the XXII AAUUSA National Junior Olympic Games at San Antonio, Texas.

Mill, who will be in the fifth grade at Syracuse Elementary, captured first place in the 3,000-meter race with a time of 11:36. In addition, she was second in the 1,500 run with a time 5:24.

    Marion Scott, 104 Fifth St., Winona Lake, was selected second runner-up Thursday in the Indiana Senior Citizen Queen contest at the State Fair.

Scott won a five-county queen competition as a representative of the Warsaw Senior Citizens Club.

    Homer W. McDaniel, past commander of the Warsaw Legion post, was elected commander of the Indiana American Legion at the state convention in Fort Wayne, defeating the bid of a World War II veteran for control of the organization.

August 16 1924

    Warsaw soldiers of Company L militiamen will leave at 7 o'clock Sunday morning for Camp Knox to spend the annual two weeks in training. They will arrive at camp at 4 o'clock Sunday afternoon and will be encamped in barracks. Mess Sergeant Walter Bolinger and Cooks Ernest Cripe and Orval Ross have prepared food to be eaten on the train while en route.
