The U.S. Achievement Academy announced that Brad D. Sheetz has been named an All-American Scholar. Brad, who attends Tippecanoe Valley High School, was nominated for this national award by coach Duane Burkhart. Brad is the son of David and Diane Sheetz. Grandparents are George and Juana Sheetz of Akron and John and Mary Hott of Rochester.

    "Little Beat," an Angus Simmental shown by Jane Fawley, is the Reserve Grand Champion Indiana State Fair steer. Fawley is the 17-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Max Fawley, Rt. 6, Warsaw. "Little Beat" weighs 1,142 pounds and in July was selected Grand Champion of the Converse County Fair open beef show. She is a nine-year member of the Chain-O-Lakes 4-H Club.

August 15 1950

    Jack Dillman, program director of Radio Station WRSW, reported to Indianapolis for active duty with the U.S. Navy. Dillman, a native of Mentone and a member of the Navy Reserve, has been employed for the past year and a half by Radio Station WRSW. He is expected to be stationed at the Great Lakes training base at Great Lakes, Ill.

    An observing Warsaw philosopher modestly remarks that the female dress of today consists of two armholes, bounded on the west by nothing whatever, on the east by the same, on the south by hardly anything, and on the north by less than that.
