    Six Warsaw residents are touring with the Bluecoats Drum and Bugle Corps this summer.

Jeremy Miller is in his fourth summer with the corps playing snare drum. This year Miller was named drumline section leader for the corps. Jeff Handel and Brad Gold are in their first year, both playing snare drum. Celeste Cooning is in her third year with the world class color guard. Jackie Whitesell has returned to march in her second season with the color guard. Mandy Armey is playing marimba in her first year with the Bluecoats.

August 15 1981

    Lyle "Skip" Witham, Atwood native and now a California resident, was home recently for a visit with his family. Skip, a pilot for Arabian oil sheik Adnan Khashoggi, is full of plenty of tales about his world travels with the sheik. He has flown for Khashoggi for five years.


50 Years Ago

August 15 1956

    One of the top events was completed at the Kosciusko County's 40th Fair when a 1,025-pound Black Angus owned by Loren Pyle, of Claypool, was chosen as the 4-H grand champion steer.

John Stookey, of Leesburg, received the master 4-H dairy showmanship award.

75 Years Ago

August 15 1931

    Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Lindsey returned from Marion, where they have been attending the second annual exhibition of the Indiana Gladiola society. Mr. Lindsey won seven prizes at the show. He had entered 11 three-spike gladiola displays in the color classes. A a meeting held at the Spencer Hotel, Mr. Lindsey was re-elected secretary of the society.
