    Sue West aced the No. 5 hole at Rozella Ford Saturday.

West used a six-iron on the 131-yard par 3 hole. Witnessing were: Don West and Eldon and Charlotte Werstler.

August 15 1980

    Rich Caldwell and Bob Hay, both of Warsaw, landed a 21-pound, 34-inch catfish at Winona Lake. Cindy Joyner of Warsaw also helped boat the giant catfish.


50 Years Ago

August 15 1955

    Harry Levinson, of Syracuse, placed third on total points in the Heinzerling series of the national snipe sailing championships at Lake Allatona, Ga.

A total of 58 boats participated in the regatta, with the top 24 competing for the national championship.

75 Years Ago

August 15 1930

    A bridge benefit was held at the home of Eunice Reed in Mentone. The benefit was sponsored by the Beta Epsilon Chapter of the Psi Iota Xi Sorority. There were eight tables of bridge with players being present from Mentone, Rochester, Akron and Warsaw. Mrs. Fred McKown, of Warsaw, was awarded first prize; Mrs. Shultz, of Rochester, was awarded second, and Mrs. W.A. Warner, of Mentone, received the consolation prize.
