INDIANAPOLIS - Bourbon's Sheila Monesmith was named second-place winner in the Indiana State Fair's youth talent competition.
Five high school journalists from Tippecanoe Valley High School took part in the 14th Annual Ball State University Journalism Workshops this week. Attending the workshops were Laura Mowrer, Shelly and Sheryl Stokes, Marilyn Earl and Sharon Surface.
Sfc. Bryan W. Leitch, of Warsaw, was one of Indiana's 10 top recruiters honored at a luncheon in the Indianapolis Athletic Club where Lt. Gen. William B. Keanx, commander of the Fifth Army, awarded permanent possession of a plaque for recruiting efficiency in a nine month contest covering 13 mid-west states.
Ninety members of the Tippecanoe Lake Country Club were present at the bridge and dancing party at the club Thursday evening. Seventeen tables of bridge progressed with Mrs. Zanders, of Syracuse, winning first prize for ladies, Mrs. Ferguson of Kentland, second for ladies, Mr. Walters, of Goshen, and Herschel Leiter, of Warsaw, were the men prize winners.
