Byron "Cork" Doran was named Citizen of the Year at Burket during Burket Days Festival. Doran has been a Burket resident more than 30 years.
The Honeybees defeated the Woolyworms for the Warsaw Girls' Softball Major League title. Team members are Lori Wilson, Kim Gregory, Deb Pifer, Shannon Backford, Tersa Werstler, Dawn Weirick, Lisa Yacuzzo, Deb Nice, Laurie Stephens, Trudi Bricker and Kim Ransbottom. Their coach is Tom Stephens.
Winners were announced in the various divisions of the women's club championship golf tournament, which has been in progress at the Tippecanoe Country Club course.
Ind. 15 through Leesburg was again closed this morning and work of finishing the grade was started. The concrete work from the north end of the big fill north of Leesburg is completed almost to Milford and the work of laying concrete through Leesburg will be started about Sept. 1.
