    Two Warsaw police officers earned promotions recently.

Bob Long has been promoted to sergeant. Long joined the Warsaw Department in February 1981. Perry Hunter received a promotion to the status of corporal. He began with the department in May 1982.

August 11 1975

    Miss Leesburg, Sally Polk, was crowned 1975 Kosciusko County Fair Queen in ceremonies that closed the 59th annual fair Saturday night.

Miss Polk, 17, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Polk, Rt. 2, Leesburg, and was sponsored in the fair queen contest by the Leesburg Lions Club. She was crowned by 1974 Fair Queen Valerie Kerlin, 18-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ted Kerlin, Rt. 2, Silver Lake.

August 11 1950

    Olin Harley, South Whitley, is the oldest living ex-rural mail carrier in the United States, it was announced at the National Convention of Rural Mail Carriers, held recently in Michigan. C. Lever Pence, of Columbia City attended the convention.

Harley will be 100 years old on Aug. 12. He is the father of Herbert and Arthur Harley, South Whitley.

August 11 1925

    Tom Nye is preparing to improve his Dream Lake property, located five miles south of Warsaw, by the erection of a large summer home of logs, the summer place to be equipped with modern conveniences. Entrance gate posts of stone will bear fine bronze name plates "Dream Lake," and Nye will then have a lake resting place that is possessed by few in the lake region of Indiana - a lake of perhaps 20 acres entirely surrounded by his own land, and one of the most beautiful spots to be found anywhere.
