    North Webster kindergarten teacher Dixie Pryor recently received the Indiana State Reading Association Outstanding Achievement Award. Pryor was nominated for the award by the Tippkee Reading Council, of which she has served as president, membership chairman and on many committees. Most recently, Pryor was president of the Indiana State Reading Association.

August 11 1980

    PIERCETON - Mrs. Norman (Edna) Busz, Women's Relief Corps of Indiana Department President, was honored at a reception held Aug. 3, in Pierceton. Busz is the only Pierceton woman ever to have held this office.


50 Years Ago

August 11 1955

    Linda Lee Larsen, North Webster High School band drum majorette and Sue Corbin, North Webster High School band baton twirler, have returned from the Smith-Walbridge camp and school of baton at Syracuse. Larsen attends the school each summer and is rated "superior" as a drum majorette.


75 Years Ago

August 11 1930

    A yield of 50 bushels of wheat to the acre on the Orr Cook farm west of this city is reported by R.W. Uplinger, thresher, and is probably the record for this county this year. Yields of 17 to 25 bushels per acre are the general average.
