A petition was started in Pierceton asking that the State Highway Commission take over and maintain the road known as the Hills-Lake route from Indianapolis to Lake Wawasee, going through Pierceton. The road from Pierceton to Lake Wawasee is hard surfaced with the exception of about 10 miles, and it is a much shorter route, and favored by the Indianapolis people who have summer cottages on Wawasee. A petition has been circulated in Wabash and other towns, all favoring this route, and it looks now as if Pierceton would soon be on a national hard-surfaced highway.
