    Paul Crousore, principal of Warsaw Community High School, recently received $1,000 for the school's scholarship fund from Joseph C. Streeter, Farm Bureau Insurance agency manager. The award, along with a "Tribute to Excellence" plaque, was given to WCHS in recognition of Kelly Matson. Matson, daughter of Robert and Doris Matson, was named Mental Attitude Award winner at the IHSAA State Finals for girls' softball after the Lady Tigers captured the state championship in June.

    Nancy Johnston, 13-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gaylord Johnston, of 1601 Greenhill Dr., Warsaw, received first prize for second-year dog training during the 4-H dog obedience judging at the Kosciusko County Fair. Nancy, with her white poodle "Poo Bear" also was awarded Grand Champion.

August 1 1951

    A ciphering match won by Marjory Ohmart in the women's division and Charles Christman in the men's division was the highlight of a recent meeting of the Chester Township Farm at the Saddle club house.

A cake baking contest was also conducted with Mrs. George Harshman placing first in the chiffon division, Mrs. Don Gable in the chocolate division and Mrs. Charles Fisher in the butter cake division.

    Of the 22 undergraduate and nine graduate students at Indiana University, who have qualified for the honor list of "A" students this year, there are three from this vicinity. Walter M. Hall, North Webster; Alice S. Abell, Nappanee; and Graden W. Regenos, Claypool, are those whose names appear on the honor list announced by Dean David A. Rothrock.
