    Russell Long has a fish story for the record books that might be hard to top.

Long, a native of Warsaw who moved to Fort Myers, Fla., a year ago, reeled in an apparent 44-pound, 6-ounce world record carp out of Pike Lake Saturday.

    A team composed of Times-Union carriers calling themselves the "Paper Pushers" has won the Thursday Night ladies summer bowling league championship at Gilliam Lanes. They are Marsha Miller, Sandy McDonald, Norma Craft, Deb Robinson and Luann Anglin.

Aug. 5 1949

    Ten silver dollars will be awarded courteous, safe drivers, bike riders and pedestrians Friday in downtown Warsaw.

Roger Dunn, secretary of the Chamber of Commerce, assisted by police and other judges will watch downtown Warsaw streets carefully all day Friday. As fast as individuals are seen observing traffic rules, extending unusual acts of courtesy to others, each winner will be awarded his or her new silver dollar.

Aug. 5 1924

    Mildred Bruner, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Justin Bruner, South Union Street, this city, has been awarded a scholarship at Northwestern University through efforts of Superintendent James E. Leffel. Bruner was one of the honor students of her class which was graduated from high school here last spring.
