    In a compromise decision, the Wawasee Community School Board voted to build a new middle school between Syracuse and North Webster. Milford students will continue attending their school, while North Webster and Syracuse students will go to the new school.

    Nineteen local residents recently returned to Warsaw from a camping trip along the Montreal River, Ontario, Canada. This was the fourth annual trek for the trip's originator, Tom Maze, of Ace Hardware. Activities during the 10-day trip included fishing, canoeing, hiking and camping.

    People who didn't go through the dust of the last couple of county fairs don't know just how big an improvement has been made by the blacktop sidewalks circling the big oval midway, which is jammed with rides, concessions and shows.

    That big Chapman Lake monster "long as a boat" was seen again yesterday by no less than 10 persons from the shore. It made riffles like the wake of a row boat, said one spectator. An effort will be made to shoot the Chapman Lake sea serpent.
