    Carolyn A. Mock, Warsaw, takes on a new challenge with the Warsaw Community Schools as assistant principal at Warsaw Middle School. Mock replaces Ron Hutcherson, previous acting assistant principal. She has been with the school system for eight years.

Aug. 27 1972

    Mike Yazel, 13, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Yazel, 302 Yale St., Mentone, found a two-headed garter snake in Laughery Creek, near Friendship Village in Ripley County. The reptile uses both heads to eat and drink. Mike was on a camping trip with his parents and his pastime is hunting snakes.

Aug. 27 1947

    Jim Ranstead, 18, top-flight Warsaw high school athlete and salutatorian of the senior class which graduated this spring, has won still another honor by his achievements in 4-H club work. He will receive a $150 cash agricultural scholarship to Purdue University.

    Powers Clothing Store, first door south of State Bank, "the store that keeps the prices down," advertised the following special prices: men and young men's suits, $11 to $33; men's hats, $3.95; dress shirts, $3.75; men's bibbed overalls, 85 cents; men's suspenders, 23 cents; bathing caps and wings, 35 cents.
