    Two first-place titles and a tie for third are the latest achievements in the world of bridge by North Webster resident Homer Shoop. The winnings occurred at the recent summer North American Bridge Championships in Baltimore. More than 8,000 contract bridge players from around the world participated in a variety of bridge events.

    Warsaw division of R.R. Donnelley & Sons Company set a new safety record of 2,004,892 hours worked without a disabling injury. Employees celebrated this record achievement with a drawing for prizes.

    If by chance you happen to visit the local fire station, be very careful in picking out a chair in which to sit down. The clever police and firemen have rigged up two electric chairs that have made more than one innocent visitor jump into the air with a mighty roar. They even put the buzz on yours truly the other day.
