Benjamin Essick, 4-year-old son of Frank and Peggy Essick of Claypool, may not be ready to plow field, but he'll be taking off through the yard on the new toy pedal tractor he won from Kosciusko County Farm Bureau in a drawing held during the county fair.

Sixty women and 40 men are employed at Reid, Murdock & Co. plant at Pierceton the year round. Beginning next week the plant will begin the canning of tomatoes in 5-gallon cans. After the rush is over, the contents of these cans will be converted into catsup and chili sauce. During the rush season, beginning next week, the company will employ several hundred persons at the Pierceton plant.
