Sam Joyner accepted his Indiana Football Hall of Fame plaque from former Warsaw High School coach and St. Joseph Valley chapter board member Frank Sanders, during the induction banquet at South Bend's Century Center. Joyner, a 1953 Warsaw graduate, was one of nine persons inducted into the grid shrine in Richmond.
Groundbreaking services were held in Winona Lake for the first phase of a $600,000 retirement complex to be named Grace Village. The Rev. Robert Ashman will be administrator of the facility.

Local old-timers will be glad to hear from anyone who knows where there is a larger or older tree than the giant oak on the old Berkey farm four miles northwest of Warsaw. The oak measures 9 feet in diameter 6 feet from the ground, has 28-foot circumference. Limbs start at from 65 to 70 feet from the ground. Tree experts estimate the age of the tree at more than 300 years.
