    Lakeland Christian Academy volleyball coach Linda Horton is in select company. The school's athletic director and head coach for girls volleyball, basketball and softball is one of 113 Indiana teacher-coaches named winners of the Franklin Life select circle coaching awards.

    Donny Gibson, a .533 hitter with the Twins in the Warsaw Pony League, received the Avery L. (Pat) Garber Recreation Award from Curtis Garber, editor of the Times-Union and son of the late Avery Garber.

    Lozier "Boze" Helvey, president of the Warsaw recreational commission, telling us that the playground children ate more than 1,700 pounds of watermelon in the special feed at the city park softball diamond. It was hard to believe until he put it down on paper in black and white, figures and all.

    Homer Lucas will begin his seventh year in the Claypool public schools. In addition to being an instructor in the regular course of study he supervises athletics, and as a result of his activities the school has produced some fast basketball teams.
