    Tom's Feed Service of Warsaw was honored recently at an awards banquet in Fort Wayne. The firm was recognized for its outstanding sales and service during 1988 by Kent Feeds Inc. of Muscatine, Iowa.

Rich Severson, president of Kent Feeds, presented the award to Tom Smithson of the dealership.

    Mark Reiff continued his outstanding work in the weight events for the Wawasee track squad last night here when he flipped the discus 153-1 to set a new field record.

Reiff swept both the shot and discus events, and was one of a trio of Warriors to finish as dual winners in the triangular meet.

    Warsaw High School's speech department was well represented at the district speech tournament held in Elkhart last Saturday, as it was learned today that local students walked away with first-place honors in both extemporaneous speaking and panel discussion.

Bob Henderson, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Henderson, Warsaw, was high-point man of the contest. He received first-place honors in two events, extemporaneous speaking and panel discussion.

April 9 1924

    John W. McCarter, student at Purdue University, is one of the 15 university students qualifying as members of the Red Cross life-saving corps. Only the proficient swimmers were allowed to apply for membership and a two-week course in instruction in the various methods used in prevention of drowning was given.
