    WINONA LAKE - Katrina Klotz has been named a recipient of the Leadership Merit Award at Grace College for the 1991-92 school year.

The award is given annually to new students who have developed strong leadership skills and demonstrated Christian character and spiritual maturity. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Randy Klotz, Etna Green.

    Children can become attached to almost anything and consider it as their pet as revealed by the recent "Pet Contest" sponsored by Lake Theater.

Winners are Dawn Mill, pet rock; Sean Mills, rope; Samantha Lowrey, duck; Sandra Baster, rock; Rick Lattea, tortoise; and Rusty Lowrey, duck. Prizes included model Fiats and passes for their families to see "No Deposit, No Return." Judges were Mr. and Mrs. David Bonewitz of Tru-Pal Pet Shop, Vicky Cook and Tim Yeager.

    Shirley Engle will be president of the Future Homemakers of America, of the Warsaw senior high school, during the coming year. She and the following officers were elected at the meeting held in the Home Economics room in the high school building: Lura Williams, vice-president; Coraethel Alspaugh, secretary; Janet Bilby, treasurer; Shirley Pifer, parliamentarian; Garnette Hyde, historian; Sue Shaffer, reporter; Marcia Hartman, song leader; and Pat Mayer, pianist.

    "Chuk" Campbell, Warsaw young man, expects to go with Paul Whiteman's orchestra on a European tour soon. Whiteman will take his orchestra first to Holland. Campbell, slide trombone jazz artist, for the past few years has been in New York with Roger Wolf Kahn's Orchestra.
